I started at Kaia Fit Chico September 2013. I took a photo that very day, carefully documenting my beginning. I am a mom of three young kids, with a busy small business, and it seems I spent time taking care of everything except me. I was out of shape and uncomfortable with my weight and health. I was super-self conscious about my appearance. Over the past year-and-a-half at Kaia I have lost 28 lbs, shaved 9 percent off my body fat and gained 7 percent muscle. Not that size matters, but I went from an 8/10 to a solid 4. How did I do this? I showed up consistently and took their advice, both for workouts and for clean eating!! Kaia Fit Chico is Awesome.
I started my journey at age 28 and now, two years later, I have lost over 100 pounds.
I went to my Dr. for a check up and was told I had elevated cholesterol and knew I had to make a change. I had tried "dieting" for years with no long term success. This time is different because I have made lifestyle changes. I cut processed and prepackaged food from my diet, I started moving more, and I have documented my progress along the way. Since joining Kaia I have not only continued to lose weight, I am getting stronger too. The coaches are awesome and the girls have become a great support network. I have never been very active and never liked doing exercise. Kaia is different, I look forward to going and feel great when I'm done.
KAIA has been an amazing life changing experience for me. Because of Kaia I look forward to going to the gym and get bummed if I miss it. I strive to eat well because I want to be the healthiest I can be. The coaches and other women are so encouraging and positive. I get pushed in healthy and self-affirming ways. There are so many opportunities for all levels of fitness. I would highly encourage you to come try out a session for free. Holy cow! When I started Kaia I took I picture after the first workout so I would have a before shot to compare to. I just took another photo this morning and I can't believe what a difference there is! Thank you for having such an amazing facility, staff, and program. It really has been a terrific and life changing experience.
I owe my health and happiness to 6:30pm and the amazing coaches at Kaia. I am constantly pushed, cheered and inspired by the women who work their bums off (literally) and still have the energy to high five the lady next to them. I have learned more about health and happiness in the short 11 weeks I have been at this gym than I have in a lifetime. I can’t recommend this gym enough.
We were given an overview of the different levels of exercise; KAIA, strength and balance. This overview put me at ease as I could be old and slow and still benefit from the workouts. From day one I was hookedAfter the first 6 weeks known as a “BRIK” I had lost 18 pounds and my energy level had increased."
The classes were tough but the coaches were motivating, helpful, and supportive. After 4 weeks I ran my first mile straight and kept getting better. I felt amazing and my self-confidence was building. Race day was terrifying, but Laura and Coach Celeste reassured me that they would be by my side. (No Kaia girl left behind!) At the three mile marker I kept telling myself, “you can make it one more mile,” at 5 miles I was really feeling fatigued but Laura and Celeste kept me on pace. And then… there was the finish line!
As I look at pictures of my son, Ryder (age 4 at the time) I noticed that there are no pictures of him and myself. That was the time that I knew I needed to do something about my weight. During my pregnancy, I was in excellent shape but three months after the birth of my son, I gained weight. It was to the point where I was 20 pounds heavier than I was at 9 months pregnant.
Kaia has been one of the best experiences for me, it has changed the way I think about my health, fitness, and food. I love being a part of such an inviting and encouraging gym. All the love and support from all the girls really helps to make each workout one to remember. I’ve been with Kaia since 2012 and couldn’t be happier with the results. It has changed the way I think of myself, it has taught me to go the extra distance, because I can.
I remember the first time I walked into the gym for my first BRIK. I felt nervous. What if I have no idea what I am doing and look dumb. The second I step foot in the gym I was greeted by Lindsey and you "Hi welcome to Kaia!" a weight was instantly lifted off my shoulders. I thought I CAN do this. In my first workout I was ready to give up. You walked by me and said come on Lucy one more push up. I felt confident, noticed and motivated.
As I look back over the year and count my blessings Kaia FIT Chico is at the top of the list. :) Last year, my sister suggested we run the Portland Half Marathon together. In a weak (or maybe strong) moment, I signed up with her. I then spent the next two months wondering how I was ever going to complete 13.1 miles when I could not even make it around the block!
On Jan 1st, I made a resolution to get in shape and complete that half.
